Your first Monero purchase on Moneso: step by step

From choosing an offer to checking payout: the buyer’s walkthrough for a custodial Moneso trade.

Before starting: compare the offer and availability

Select Buy XMR, your actual payment currency and a payment method you can use. Check limits, the trader’s terms and reply hours. An active listing or recent online status does not guarantee an immediate reply. If the terms or availability do not suit you, compare another offer before starting.

Check your receiving wallet and total cost

Check the Monero receiving address saved in your Moneso account. The payout address is fixed when the trade starts. Review the quoted amount: the trader’s margin is included in the offer rate, while 1% and the actual network fee are deducted from the buyer’s XMR allocation. Never provide a recovery phrase or private wallet key.

Start the trade and use its private chat

Starting a trade creates a request; it is not confirmation that you should send money. Use the trade chat to clarify the agreed payment instructions. Keep your account page open while waiting and check the trade status. Do not assume the other party has seen your message.

Wait for the seller’s XMR deposit

The seller deposits the trade’s XMR first. Moneso holds that deposit in a platform-controlled wallet. Send fiat only when the trade page shows the confirmed funding step and tells you to make the payment. A seller’s message or screenshot is not a substitute for that status.

Send the agreed payment and record it

Follow the agreed payment instructions in the funded trade. After actually sending the payment, select “I sent the payment”. Do not mark it sent beforehand. If receipt is disputed, keep relevant evidence in the trade chat and use the dispute process; do not send a duplicate payment just because the first is said to be missing.

Check settlement and leave your review

The seller checks their payment account and confirms fiat receipt. Payout processing is separate from a confirmed Monero payout: check the trade’s final status and your receiving wallet. After confirmed payout, both sides submit a review. If you already paid, a cancellation label alone does not prove that your funds were returned; contact the operator through the trade.

Understand what the platform does not guarantee

Moneso is custodial and has no independent security audit. The trust page explains its current limitations. Trade review does not eliminate payment fraud, reversals or custody risk. Read those limits before deciding whether to use the marketplace.
